Tracking Repositories

Patchday tracks GitHub repositories by polling for new releases. No GitHub App, no OAuth permissions, no webhooks. Paste a repository name and Patchday starts watching.

Adding a repository

  1. Click the + button next to "Repositories" in the sidebar, or go to Add Repository.
  2. Enter the repository in one of two formats:
    • Short form: owner/name (e.g., linuxserver/docker-plex)
    • Full GitHub URL: https://github.com/linuxserver/docker-plex
  3. Click Track Repository.

Patchday validates the repository against the GitHub API. If it exists and is public, it's added to your watchlist.

When you track a repository for the first time (or you're the first Patchday user to track it), all existing releases are fetched in the background. You'll see a loading spinner on the dashboard until the initial fetch completes.

What gets tracked

Patchday monitors GitHub Releases, the tagged releases that project maintainers publish through GitHub's release UI. This includes:

  • Stable releases (e.g., v1.2.0)
  • Pre-releases (e.g., v1.3.0-beta.1), depending on your preference

Patchday does not track plain git tags that aren't published as GitHub Releases, nor does it monitor commits, pull requests, or issues.

Removing a repository

  1. Open the repository detail page by clicking its name in the sidebar or on a release card.
  2. Scroll to the Danger Zone at the bottom of the page.
  3. Click Stop tracking and confirm in the dialog.

The repository disappears from your sidebar, dashboard, and feed. You won't receive further notifications for it. If other Patchday users track the same repository, its data stays in the system. Only your personal tracking link is removed.

You can re-add a repository at any time. All previously fetched releases will still be there.

Tracking limits

How many repositories you can track depends on your plan. Early Access and Starter accounts track up to 5 repositories, Pro tracks 25, and Unlimited has no cap.

When you hit your limit, the + button in the sidebar is disabled until you remove a repository or move to a higher plan. See Plans & limits for the full breakdown.

Shared repositories

Repositories are shared across all Patchday users. If someone else tracks immich-app/immich, Patchday already has its releases. Adding it to your watchlist is instant, with no waiting for the initial fetch.

Patchday fetches release data and writes AI summaries once, then shares them with everyone tracking that repo. The more people who use Patchday, the more repositories are already warmed up and ready the moment you add them.
